I’m a fan of Gilbert’s advice. In our hustling, bustling, plugged-in world, it’s easy to let the power and impact of compassionate people become merely part of the background. While most of those folks don’t care about being thanked, the truth is, giving thanks is essential to that “miraculous scope of human generosity.” It allows all of us to be part of the change. 

So this is my opportunity to again say “thanks” to you—the individuals, companies and partners who come together with United Way to change the story in our region. And I’m going to keep on saying it!

I’m reminded of why those words matter when I look at the impact that you’ve made possible. If you haven’t seen our scorecard, check it out here. 

Because of you, more kids are learning to read and succeed in school. 

Because of you, more families are able to avoid eviction and stay housed. 

Because of you, more individuals without enough food to eat are being fed.

Those are just for starters! Thousands of you volunteer your time as reading buddies, business mentors and as helping hands in Day of Caring projects. Others engage as advocates for early grade learning, healthy lifestyles and in support of the ALICE population. And so many more give financial gifts to fuel the work of United Way—gifts for which we’re especially grateful  during our current campaign as we push toward our $14.5 million goal. In short, all of you and the contributions you make, whether personal or financial, are sparking a social movement that brings meaningful, sustainable change to our regional community. Without your generous support, it wouldn’t happen. Without your passion to change the story, we wouldn’t see the transformation that’s happening around us.

So I’ll keep saying “thank you,” forever and sincerely, on behalf of the lives you touch.
