ARP Seeding Health Grants - City of Battle Creek

In partnership with the City of Battle Creek, the United Way of South Central Michigan (UWSCMI) will administer a portion ($500,000) of the City of Battle Creeks Federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.

Through this open ARP Seeding Health- City of Battle Creek process, local nonprofit partners are invited to submit 3-year funding requests to support efforts to addresses the negative impacts of COVID-19 by creating or increasing equitable access to healthcare for nonprofit employees in the City of Battle Creek.

This opportunity is open to nonprofit organizations that are located in and/or employ a majority (more than 50%) of individuals who live in the City of Battle Creek. Additionally, priority will be given to organizations that have experienced negative economic impacts of COVID-19.

 

Opportunity Overview

  • Three-year grant term—1/1/2023 to 12/31/2025.
  • Grant funds can be utilized to establish healthcare benefits through the organization, expand existing benefits (such as expanding from just employee coverage to family covered or adding vision or dental benefits), or offer stipends to employees that offset their premiums/deductibles or the employees costs of seeking insurance on the Healthcare.gov Marketplace. Other strategies that meet employees needs related to increasing access to health care (including mental healthcare) can also be proposed.
  • Total amount available: $150,000 per year. Estimated average grant of $15,000 per year per organization.
  • Direct administrative costs can be included in request. No indirect administrative cost can be charged.
  • The annual grant amount awarded will be paid out at the beginning of each grant year in a lump sum (January 2023, January 2024, and January 2025).
  • Biannual reporting reconciling budget and reporting data required.
  • UWSCMI staff liaison will work with funded partners throughout grant term to support success in meeting all grant requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 501c3 Organization (or 501c3 fiscal sponsor)
  • Organization is located in and/or employ a majority (more than 50%) of individuals who live in the City of Battle Creek
  • Organization has 15 or fewer employees

Application Process

  1. September 1: Application available on e-CImpact. Log in to e-CImpact and request an application.
  2. September 1-October 3: Complete and Submit Application.
    -UWSCMI staff will be available for consultation during this time. Appointments may be made by emailing communityimpact@uwscmi.org
  3. Applicants will receive notification of outcome by Nov. 1, 2022
  4. If funded, grantees will be asked to complete the provided Grant Agreement by Nov. 22, 2022.
  5. Funding begins on Jan. 1, 2023
