Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service 2020
In recognition of Dr. King’s incredible legacy of service to all, Congress designated the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service in 1994 and charged the Corporation for National and Community Service with leading this effort.
Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service.
Join Gryphon Place, United Way of the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek Region, and the City of Kalamazoo in this annual day of service, January 20, 2020.
This event will kick-off at Kalamazoo City Hall at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast and volunteer check-in, with service beginning at sites at 9 a.m. Lunch will be delivered to sites around noon. Lunch and shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for those who register after 1/12/20.
In the afternoon, join others for a march that starts at 4:20 p.m. from the Kalamazoo Transit Center to MLK Park in downtown Kalamazoo. Attendees are encouraged to use Metro Transit to arrive at the march. Hot beverages will be served in MLK park at 4:45 p.m.
