21-Day Equity Challenge

UNITED THROUGH AWARENESS

ALICE and Black Households Data clearly illustrate the inequities that are deeply rooted in our national, state, and local systems and institutions. During the 21-Day Racial Equity Challenge, you will take a self-guided learning journey that examines the history and impacts of racism and how it shapes people’s lived experiences in Battle Creek and Kalamazoo.

The Challenge is simple: you commit to deepening your understanding of, and willingness to confront racism for 21 days. The Challenge will raise your awareness, change your understanding, and shift your perspective.

Each day's content includes an introduction on a particular topic, followed by several additional resources such as podcasts, articles, or videos. You choose which links you'd like to explore - aim for at least 10-15 minutes each day of learning or reflection.

NOTE: This Challenge was originally developed by Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr., Dr. Marguerite Penick-Parks and Debby Irving and has been adapted by Food Solutions New England. The Michigan Association of United Ways has further adapted the content with the support of leaders across our Michigan United Way network. A special thank you to the United Way of Washtenaw County for their leadership and guidance.
